Play Therapy at MindGarden
At MindGarden, play therapy is the primary way I support children and families in St. Louis. Using a Child-Centered Play Therapy approach, I help children express their inner world through play while caregivers receive clinical guidance and support throughout the healing process.

What Is Play Therapy?
Play therapy is a clinical form of treatment that utilizes play. Play is the natural language of children, helping them process experiences and express emotions. Rather than requiring verbal explanation, I invite children to use carefully selected toys and creative media to communicate in a developmentally appropriate way.

Who Can Benefit?
Play therapy is a supportive option for children in St. Louis navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, family transitions, or social-emotional challenges. It is particularly effective for those who find it difficult to articulate their internal experiences through traditional talk therapy.

What Concerns Can Play Therapy Support?
Through Child-Centered Play Therapy, children work on emotional regulation, coping strategies, and self-esteem. While each child’s journey is unique, MindGarden provides a safe, structured space designed to foster resilience, though specific outcomes are dependent on each individual’s clinical needs.

What a Play Therapy Session May Look Like
Within Telehealth Therapy sessions, I utilize age-appropriate play, creative arts, and dialogue leveraging items within your home. For in-home care, I provide a curated kit of therapeutic tools. Regardless of the setting, sessions remain structured yet adaptable, ensuring your child drives the interaction while I witness and support their journey.
How Parents Are Involved
Parents are essential partners in the process. MindGarden will check in regularly regarding your child’s progress and patterns noticed at home. Depending on clinical needs, this may include parent sessions focused on responding to big emotions and strengthening connection. MindGarden offers private-pay services at $145/session, and some eligible services may also be available through insurance using Headway.
