Therapy Basics
What ages do you work with?
I primarily work with children and families, including teens, parents, and caregivers. Play therapy is typically most appropriate for children in early childhood through preadolescence, while older children, teens, and adults may benefit from a blend of talk therapy and creative approaches when clinically appropriate.
What is play therapy?
Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate form of therapy that uses play—the natural language of children—to help them express feelings and build coping skills. Rather than relying only on words, children can use toys, art, and creative activities in a structured, therapeutic setting at MindGarden.
How do I know if my child may benefit from play therapy?
You may want to consider play therapy if your child’s emotional or behavioral challenges are affecting daily life, or if they have experienced a significant change. If you are unsure, I can use an initial consultation to talk through your concerns and determine whether play therapy at MindGarden is the right fit for your child and family.

What concerns do you work with?
I commonly support children and families experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, behavioral changes, school-related stress, social difficulties, family changes, grief, loss, trauma, and major life transitions.

Clinic Logistics & FAQs
What happens during the first appointment?
The first appointment focuses on gathering background information and getting to know your child and family. This may include time with caregivers, the child, or a combination. I will also discuss therapeutic goals, whether In-Home Play Therapy or Telehealth Therapy is clinically appropriate, and we will plan next steps together.
What happens during a play therapy session?
During sessions, your child uses tools that support expression and exploration. Sessions are structured yet flexible, allowing your child to lead while I observe and guide the process. Over time, themes in your child’s play help MindGarden understand their inner world to support meaningful change for your family.
How involved are parents in treatment?
Parents and caregivers are essential partners. I will check in regularly about your child’s progress and ways you can support them between sessions. Depending on your child’s needs, this may include parent-only sessions focused on understanding behavior, responding to big emotions, and strengthening the family connection.
How long does therapy usually last, and how often will my child attend?
Duration varies by child and family goals. Sessions are typically 45–50 minutes and occur weekly at the start of treatment. Over time, I may adjust frequency based on your child’s progress. I will discuss this with you so you know exactly what to expect from the process.
